Rebekah and Julia out on the Town

DSCF1567.JPG Rebekah and Julia are at it again!  They met in Lansing for lunch and dined on a grilled cheese sandwich, oranges, raisins, and even a pickle.  Next they headed to the mall, and being the bookworms that they surely will be in the future, they camped out in the kids section of the bookstore for some fun and snacks.  DSCF1569.JPG Who knows where they will meet up next!

Shopping with Rebekah

IMG00044-20100118-1834.jpg Rebekah loves shopping.  Going to the grocery store is so much more exciting with her.  She enjoys riding in the cart, and she’s always waving “hi” to people nearby.  Usually we pack a toy or two to keep her entertained when we have been circling the aisles a little too long, and she always has a little snack and her water cup by her side.

Rebekah is One Year Old!

P466-LTPP0466102686JCP-15.jpg Happy Birthday Rebekah!  We love you!
Hard to believe it has been a year already.  For her birthday, both sets of grandparents came over to celebrate.  Rebekah may not have known the reason behind all the fun, but she did remember what to do with presents.  P1100517.JPG We had fried chicken for dinner and blueberry and peach pies for dessert.  Rebekah even managed to squeeze in a nap on her busy day.
At her doctor’s appointment the other day, she measured 30 inches tall and weighed 25 pounds.  She has been walking since Thanksgiving, and she is a pro at demonstrating the sounds that elephants and lions make.  She loves to look at books when she isn’t chewing on them.  Bananas are her favorite food right now, and banana, or “nana,” is also her newest word to say.  DSCF1501.JPG

See you soon, Uncle Paul!

IMG_2545.JPG All too soon, it was time for Uncle Paul to go back to Florida.  It was great to have him visit us for a little while.  Rebekah and I picked him up in Jackson, grabbed lunch with Grandma Hammond at one of our favorite restaurants, Los Tres Amigos, and headed back to the airport.  Only one semester left until Uncle Paul is done with school.  Maybe we will see Paul at the airport in Florida next time!

Merry Christmas!

IMG_2482.JPG Rebekah had a wonderful Christmastime with family.  We started the celebration when we picked Uncle Paul up from the airport.  He went Christmas shopping with us at the mall and even spent the night.  Christmas Eve we joined him and Grandpa and Grandma Hammond in Jackson.  IMG_2498.JPG Rebekah was a little hesitant at first when it came to opening presents Christmas evening.  She wasn’t quite sure what she was supposed to do, but she eventually got the hang of it.  By the next day when we celebrated with her Griswold family, she was excited to see and open her packages.  DSCF1474.JPG We were sad to go home that weekend, but we knew her birthday wasn’t far away.

O Christmas Tree

DSCF1451.JPG Rebekah was entranced by the Christmas tree.  That giant addition to our living room decor must have seemed like one great big new toy for her.  She loved the lights and the garland, but her favorite part was the Christmas bulbs.  Many, many, many times a day, we had to remind her, “Rebekah, no tree,” as we watched her venture over with an outstretched arm.  If we weren’t keeping a close enough eye on her, she would pluck those bulbs from the branches just like they were apples.  Even though I felt like I was redecorating those bottom three branches every few hours or so, the tree and its decorations thankfully survived the Christmas season relatively unscathed.
